A special Father's Day wish to the 2 greatest men in my life. First, I want to wish my dad a wonderful Father's Day! You are the greatest dad and grandpa in the world! We love the fact that we are close enough now to eat your "finger-lickin-chicken" and go camping with you. It is so great to have a Papa that will drive 45 minutes without hesitating to babysit!
Also a happy Fathers day to my wonderful husband and greatest dad to our two crazy children! As I think of some of my most favorite memories of our life as parents I would have to think back as this macho man, became a father to Zach. Pink was a forbidden color and red was pretty close. If I put a red shirt on Zach it better have some cool jeans and baseball cap with it. Now as Chris being a parent of a little girl, and not just any little girl, but one who thinks she is a princess, it is so fun to see the macho dad on the floor in Katelynn's room playing Barbies or Polly pockets! The day she did his hair up all in bows was definitely a picture perfect moment for the scrapbooks!
Since Steven Curtis Chapman's song
"Cinderella" came out, it has been a special song for Chris and Katelynn, but in the last month after the tragic death of Steven's 5 year old daughter, Marie, it has taken on new meaning as we never do know when someone can be taken from us and we should make every moment count!
The first verse and chorus is the clincher of the song.

Over 17 years ago I started watching a little 9 month old girl at our church, little did I know then how special that girl and her mom, siblings, and grandparents would become to me. This past Saturday I got to travel 4 hours away, by myself, to see Katie graduate from high school! It had been over six years since I had seen any of them, so it was a shock to see how much they had grown and what wonderful teenagers they have become. It was a surprise to Robin, Katie, Ben, Emily, and Jessie, I had emailed their grandparents, Jim and Sue and was able to set it all up through them, even getting the extra ticket to graduation!
I got a call this morning from Katelynn's school. When the lady said she was in the nurse's office, the next thing I expected to hear was that Zach had broken a bone or something, I was shocked to hear that Katelynn had taken a bad fall on the playground and that I needed to come get her. The lady said that Katelynn was bleeding by her eye, nose, mouth, and knee. Since I have worked at a school before and knew that if a child needs picked up because of a playground accident, then it must be bad. I called Chris to let him know, then took Ayden and headed off to the school. When I got there, Katelynn was a basket case, but the injuries were just a fat lip and "road rash" as we call it at our house. So thankfully no stitches, just lots of neosporin and lots of love.
